Key Factors Leading Us to Rank This Firm as One of This Year’s Top Credit Union Firms
Upon completing our detailed reviews, US Employees Credit Union was included in AdvisoryHQ’s ranking of this year’s best credit unions based on the following factors.
USECU Review: Visa Travel Cards
One of the conveniences featured for members of USECU is the Visa Travel Reloadable Cards. These cards are accepted worldwide wherever merchants accept Visa. It is a prepaid and reloadable card that can have a balance of up to $5,000.
Everything is the same as what it would be using a Visa card, and you can make both signature and POS purchases. This travel card can also be used to obtain cash at ATMs.
These travel cards are often considered more convenient than traveler’s checks because they can be reloaded not only at a credit union branch but also at a ReadyLink location.
USECU also features Visa Gift Cards, which have similar benefits.
USECU Review: Visa Credit Cards
As well as prepaid Visa cards, this credit union in Chicago features competitive credit card products that also have rewards. Credit card accounts can be accessed anytime and anywhere through an online portal, and, here, members can see detailed account information, balances, minimum payments, and bill due dates. They can also export their credit card information to their computer and select the file format they need.
To lessen the anxiety of remembering to make payments on time, members of USECU can set up automatic payments to be made online.
USECU Review: Education Accounts
Along with several retirement and investment opportunities, including the option to set up Roth and traditional IRAs, members of USECU can also open a Coverdell Education Savings Account. These accounts are designed to save money to put toward a child’s education.
The contributions made to the account are non-deductible, offering the opportunity to make tax-free withdrawals. Funds can be transferred to a family member who’s eligible, and contributions can be made until the child is 18.
USECU Review: Free Checking Account
A checking account is a fundamental part of most people’s banking products, and USECU offers the opportunity to open a free checking account as long as it has a qualifying direct deposit. You also receive a free first box of checks and a debit card.
Other benefits of a checking account from USECU include free bill pay, a free mobile app, and free remote deposit capture.
E-statements are provided at no charge, there’s no monthly balance requirement, and the account carries no per-check or monthly service charge. In addition, this credit union offers access to three separate surcharge-free ATM networks.
