A+ Federal Credit Union Review
A+ Federal Credit Union was founded by a group of teachers in 1949 while they attended a meeting in Austin’s Zilker Park. Their goal was the creation of a not-for-profit financial institution, founded on the primary principle of credit unions: people helping people.
Since that initial founding, A+ has grown over its 65-year history to become one of the largest credit unions in the Texas area.
There are now almost 130,000 members and 21 branches throughout the state. A+ is led by a group of non-paid, volunteer directors who are elected by the membership. A+ offers a range of traditional personal accounts as well as lending options, business banking, and e-services.

A+ FCU Review: Free Checking
The primary checking account available from A+FCU is called Free Cash-Back Checking Plus, and it’s designed for members who use their debit card often and who also don’t want to pay a monthly service fee.
The debit card is free to obtain and use, and features, such as online and mobile banking, bill pay, and e-statements, are all free.

This account also includes cash back on debit card purchases, including $0.10 and 10 Plus Points every time an associated debit card is swiped and signed or whenever members use their A+FCU-linked mobile wallet to make a purchase.
Another checking account option available from A+FCU is the basic A+ Checking, which does have a small monthly maintenance fee, but this can be waived if balances remain above a certain level.
A+ FCU Review: Investments

A+ FCU Review: Home Loans
A+ offers a full lineup of lending products. These include personal loans, auto loans, education loans, lines of credit, and credit cards.
For borrowers who want an excellent home loan opportunity, mortgages from A+ include the following benefits:
- Options include fixed, adjustable, government, and special loans and programs
- Rates are low
- Financing is flexible
- Home loans can be used to make a purchase, but they can also be used for refinancing
Fixed-rate mortgages are ideal for those buyers who want to stay in their home for many years; there is a low 3% down payment and no prepayment penalty.
Fixed-rate mortgages can also be used for not just primary residences but also vacation and second homes and investment properties.
An adjustable-rate mortgage is excellent for homeowners who don’t plan to stay in their home for many years, and it offers lower initial interest rates as well as a maximum interest rate cap.
A+ FCU Review: eServices
eServices available from A+ are designed to offer convenience, security, and accessibility for members.
A+ Online is an online banking portal that lets members check balances and account history, send and view messages, transfer funds, pay bills, view e-statements and check images, make loan payments, and submit stop payment requests.
Mobile banking offers many of these same features, but members can also deposit checks via their mobile device which are instantly credited to their account.
With the Bill Pay feature, users can expedite payments if they choose, pre-load bills based on payment history, stay organized with a payment and reminder calendar, make person-to-person electronic payments, and categorize bill payments.
